About us
An integrated, Jewish- character school
Moriah College was established in 1989 to cater for families in Wellington city from both Orthodox and Liberal Jewish communities. However, there has always been a mix of Jewish and non-Jewish families at Moriah, and in 1996 the school became a state-integrated school. Our families recognise the value of a Jewish approach to education, with its focus on life-long learning. The special character of the school permeates throughout the school year, and provides key themes to guide integrated curricular studies. We follow the National Education Guidelines and our Jewish Studies and Hebrew curriculum aligns with the New Zealand Curriculum.
A small primary for Yr 0 - 8
Our children range from 5 -12 years and grow and learn together in a family atmosphere. The intimacy of small classes give all children the opportunity to develop close relationships with their teachers. The low teacher-student ratio allows us to develop individual learning programmes targeted to the personal learning needs of each student.
Inner-city resources
Our close proximity to the city allows us to draw on Wellington’s wonderful public resources. We use local parks and sports facilities to extend our playground space, and make the most of museums, theatres and other educational spaces around us.
